The Itinerary
Welcome to Nepal, the Land of Himalayas! Upon your arrival our representative from Himalayan Traverse will welcome to you at the airport and take you to your respective hotel. As it is the first day, we will make you brief introduction on your trip and your guide/s too. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.

After breakfast in the morning, we start a small sightseeing in Kathmandu in the three famous UNESCO World heritage enlisted sites: “Pashupatinath Temple” the biggest temple for Hindus, “Swayambhunath Stupa” also known as the monkey temple which is one of the famous religious stupas for Buddhists and “Boudhanath Stupa” the biggest Stupa in Nepal located in Kathmandu. After this short visit to religious sites, we make early preparations for our trip and make sure everything is okay. Overnight in Kathmandu Hotel.

Beginning of the Adventure – Early morning you are transferred to domestic airport for your flight to Lukla which takes approx.35 mins. Lukla airport is the one and only gateway to Khumbu region and it is one of the world-famous airports in the world as the landing is done on the narrow, sleeping runway high above the Dudh Koshi River.
Upon arriving at Lukla, Base2Summits Expedition staffs will make necessary arrangements to start the trek. The trek to Phakding is an easy walk for the first day with the mostly downhill leg. The trek will take you through pastoral lands through several small villages and farms, beautiful stone carved Mani walls & crossing several suspension bridges. Approximately after 4 hours, we reach Phakding village which lies on the bank of Dudh Koshi river where we will be spending our night.

We continue to trek moving along the banks of Dudh Koshi River and cross the suspension bridge over the majestic river several times to reach the village of Monjo. We then enter Sagarmatha National Park where we may get the glimpse of different wildlife. The trail continues to ascend steeply before arriving in Namche Bazaar, also known as “the Gateway to Everest”.

“Wellbeing” of the team is our top priority. As we are over 3000 meters, allowing more time for body to acclimatize is recommended so we stop for one more day in Namche. Climb High Sleep Low is our theme for the day.
After breakfast we will hike up to Everest View Hotel which offers a stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam etc. We then walk down to Khumjung village to see the famous Hillary School and Kunde Hospital which was built by Sir Edmund Hillary after his first ascent of Mount Everest.
After lunch we then hike down to Namche for the night stop.

After a sumptuous breakfast, we begin our trek to Dole with gradual ups and downs. The trail is scenic and keeps getting more and more amazing as we proceed ahead. On the way, we are likely to spot Himalayan pheasants, musk deer, and Himalayan Tahrs. Descending a little bit through the alpine and rhododendron forest, we reach the village of Kyanjuma, where we stop for a short break. Moving further ahead, we reach Sansa from where we will follow the Gokyo trails, which is a bit rough and lies just above the Dudh Koshi river’s gorge. From Mong La Pass, we get a glimpse of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tawoche, and Mt. Khumbila. From the pass, the trail descends to Dudh Koshi Khola after which it is an uphill climb up to Phortse. We get magnificent views of the mountains from this point. After hiking for a couple of hours through lush forest and green pastures, we will reach Dole from where we get to watch the mesmerizing sunset views. Overnight in Dole.

Trek from Dole begins with a fairly tricky descent on a slippery, snow-covered slope. Then, we begin to climb on a steady trail through a scenic ridge with views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Kantega, and Mt. Thamserku. The uphill walk comprises of increasingly barren hillside, covered in tundra grasses and dotted with scrub junipers. We cross a small settlement of Lhafarma, and then Luza village, tucked into a side valley. Ascending from Luza, we walk over the Dudh Koshi River and continue walking through sandy trails before reaching Machhermo, the last major settlement before Gokyo. We can visit the Himalayan Rescue Hospital to learn a lot related to altitude sickness. Overnight in Machhermo.

Today, we leave the foothills and ascend on a hill gradually entering the desolate tundra of the high mountains, enjoying views of the Dudh Koshi valley and Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Cho-Oyu. Beyond the ridge, the valley widens as the trail passes through a Chorten and we reach Phangga. We descend to the river bank before climbing up to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier on a steep trail. We pass through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho and Dudh Pokhari before reaching Gokyo. On the trail next to the first lake, we see what is believed to be the footprints of a Lama (Buddhist priest). We explore Dudh Pokhari before calling it a night. Overnight in Gokyo.
(4750M) – 5/6 HRS TREK.

This day we Hike up Gokyo ri for acclimatization and we head Thore for our overnight stay, to ready yourself for the crossing of the Cho-la Pass.

High altitude scrubs replace trees and formidable mountains suddenly appear within reach. Dingboche is the first of a series of settlements leading to EBC established to accommodate trekkers. Beautiful views towards Mt Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam – and more!

This day as it’s a rest day we acclimatize and go for a hike to Nangkartshang gompa or maybe even higher to Summit of Nagarjuna Hill(5,100m) to enjoy the view of mountain ranges and retrace to Dingboche.

Making our way through the Khumbu glaciers at the terminal moraine we climb up to Dugla. We can find the prayers flags and stones on our way up. We can see the clear views of peak like Khumbutse, Lingtren, Mahalangur himal and Pumori. Gradually after a hike of 5 to 6 hours we reach Lobuche situated beneath the Lhotse Ridge. Overnight at Lobuche.

Today is as exciting day as we will be hiking for Everest Base Camp, our final destination. It definitely is going to be as amazing experience but a bit challenging too. We make our way to Gorak Shep first and head towards Everest Base Camp then following the Khumbu Glacier trails. On the way we can view mountains which are Nuptse, Pumori and Khumbutse and finally reach Everest Base Camp where we will be exploring today. For overnight we return to Gorakshep.

Early in the morning we depart for Kala Patthar to view the amazing sunrise seen from the Kala Patthar and other mighty Himalayas too. After enjoying the magnificent panorama from the top of Kala Patthar we head back to Lobuche for overnight stay.

After breakfast, we retrace our steps towards Pangboche which takes approx. 6/7 hrs walk.

We continue our descend from Pangboche to Namche passing via Tengboche which takes approx. 5/6 hrs walk.

Today is the last day of our adventurous trek. We descend down to Lukla from Namche. The trail will be exciting as well as easier as we will pass through the forest of rhododendron and pines.

We bid our farewell to crew members and enjoy our last view of the high mountains while flying back to the Kathmandu from Lukla. Aerial views of snow-capped mountains will be worth to watch during the flight.
After 35 minutes of flight, our representative will be waiting for you at domestic airport to take you back to the hotel where you can spend the afternoon with a chilled beer and warm shower.

This day serves as a cushion day, incase the regular schedule flight from Lukla gets affected due to bad weather.
Remaining day is at own disposal. Evening enjoy the group dinner at selected local restaurant.

Depending on your flight time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
NOTE: The airport checks in is 3 hours prior to the departure time and the hotel checkout time is 12PM. In case our flight is late evening please let us know if you require half day use of the hotel

Your passport needs to be valid for at least six (6) months after your journey ends, and should have a minimum of one (1) blank visa page for entry and exit stamps.
We recommend travelling with some cash, and at least two different major credit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, so you have backup if your card is not accepted or lost. Access to ATM machines is available in Kathmandu but limited to none in rural areas. Contact your bank and credit card companies to let them know where and when you’ll be travelling, as well as confirm any foreign transaction fees.
When carrying cash, try to travel only with recently issued currency in smaller denominations; wrinkled or torn bills are not accepted. Only exchange currency at authorized outlets such as currency exchanges, ATMs or hotels and save receipts as they may be required for exit.
Every mountain is another mountain regardless of its height. Climbers must be physically and mentally fit with a good deal of mountaineering experience and skills for your own safety and welfare of the team.
Base2Summits Expedition requires all clients to have basic knowledge of mountaineering skills and experience of expedition life. The clients should be confident and comfortable to adopt Himalayan mountaineering practices such as using fixed lines to ascend, descend and crevasse crossing using ladders.
Booking confirmation must be done 120 days before arrival date to Kathmandu. A non-refundable 50% advance payment must be made after signing the Service Agreement between the two parties 75 days before the departure date. Clients must provide a Medical Report signed by a physician stating otherwise healthy and fit.
Food will be of the highest standard possible, given the remoteness of the situation. We will take meals (breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) in lodges and teahouses along the trail. We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements but do please inform us in advance.
We believe in delivering highest standard of client care before and after the completion of trip. A team of dedicated and experienced Guide & Sherpas will provide support during the trek and for the summit climb as well.
